Pottery Classes: 8-week workshop

Join us for some creative clay-play in the Make Nashville Ceramics Studio! For beginners and potters with some experience. Ages: 14+
This 8-class Workshop will be held on Saturdays from 10:00am to 1:00pm, starting on January 7 and ending on February 25, 2023 .
Classes include hand building and wheel throwing methods. Participants will learn about shaping clay though pinch, coil and slab techniques, plus decorating with stamps, sprigs, slips and coloring methods. Through demonstrations and practice, students will also learn skills involved in wheel work: centering the clay, creating cylinders, progressing to other forms, and trimming. Glazing methods will be explored. By the end of the workshop, all projects will be glazed and fired, ready to be picked up about 2 weeks after the last class.
Our clay and glazes produce ceramic ware that is food safe as well as microwave, oven and dishwasher safe.
Clay and glazes are not included in the class fee . There is a one-time initial fee of $30 for materials (clay and glazes) on the first day of class. Please do not bring your own clay. Make Nashville will provide other materials and tools. Participants who wish to own their own tools may purchase them here at a discount.
